A Nation Rejoices in Being Conned; Shoots Messenger

Great news, everybody! After also passing overwhelmingly in the House, the Senate just passed a bill making the 9 /11 Victims Compensation Fund permanent. Only two Senators opposed it. Mike Lee of Utah and Rand Paul of Kentucky. Boooooooo!!!!!

This endeavor had the utmost support of retired comedian, Jon Stewart, so you know it is good and holy and pure. No need to be suspicious at all of a bill with no limit that lasts for 70 years. Who could oppose that? Why do you hate first responders?

Rand Paul makes a nasty habit of taking principled stands. Frequently he is alone, although Mike Lee joined him this time. For this, he is crucified. Tweets abound celebrating the neighbor who seriously injured him. Interesting how the ones standing by themselves taking heaps of vitriol can be called unprincipled by the Twitter mobs that shout at them. This is the only one in the entire legislative branch, since his father retired, that returns the unused funds for his office operations.

The most common theme is that if Rand Paul cared about the deficit and debt so much, he would not have supported the supposed GOP tax scam for billionaires. That is because all these people know how to do is bark out whatever they are spoon fed like sea lions. Setting aside that one does not have a claim to someone else’s money as a common fund just because of common debt, it’s not even true.

The left will never understand that tax cuts increase tax revenue because they stop hindering taxable activity. This is the same principle anyone who sells anything applies when they have a sale. But it’s not just theoretical, we have the numbers. Federal revenue has only gone up. In fact, it’s more than ever. It also brought a lot of money in tax shelters overseas back home.

Why is the debt out of control? Because we won’t stop spending. Things haven’t really gotten better in that regard under Trump. We were actually decreasing the debt for his first few months in office. But after Paul Ryan gave us his one final abysmal budget on his way out of Congress we have been in a tailspin. And we will continue to be if we keep throwing ticker tape parades for horrible bills.
