Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you would be acquainted by the drag kid superstar, “Desmond Is Amazing”, who has risen to prominence thanks to the enormous promotion from the mainstream media. Other famous ‘drag kids’ include “Lactatia” and “Katastrophe Jest”, but none has enjoyed as much publicity–and controversy–as Desmond Is Amazing.

Desmond Is Amazing, an 11-year-old “drag kid” has apparently been practicing drag since the age of two. Desmond’s reception by the public hasn’t exactly been stellar since breaking onto the scene at the age of 8 at a NYC Pride parade where his ‘voguing’ went viral.
Desmond Is Amazing has been the center of some public concern, as Child Protective Services were called on his parents, who, both being unemployed, rely on their eleven-year-old ‘drag kid’ for their income. In a YouTube video, an uproar broke out over Desmond’s apparent acquaintance with insufflating the drug, Ketamine. Desmond was also found performing a form of provocative dance at an adult nightclub where partygoers threw bank notes at his dance routine.

Many social media users have vocalized their disgust at the Mainstream Media’s promotion of Desmond and other ‘drag kids’ as an attempted normalization of pedophilia and the sexualization of children.
The Mainstream Media has penned several pieces promoting Desmond is Amazing and other ‘drag kids’, which, if anything, have seemingly worsened in public response each time a story of this nature has been published, as they have a tendency of getting ‘ratioed’ replete with negative feedback–often colorfully worded.

Publications frame “Desmond Is Amazing” as the future, or, as NBC termed it, “‘Drag kids’ are slaying the runway — one ‘fierce’ look at a time”.
Lactatia, another ‘drag kid’, who apparently ‘won’ an 2018 LA Pride Parade with a ‘fierce strut’ has also seen recent public success.
Between 2014-2018, the Mainstream Media had published several pieces which could be interpreted as an attempt to normalize pedophilia–encapsulated by Salon’s infamous “I’m a Pedophile, Not a Monster” 2015 article, which was later unpublished. Social media users and commentators have drawn comparisons between the ‘drag kid’ phenomenon, artificially inflated by the Mainstream Media, and the sexualization of children, leading to conclusions suggesting a potential normalization of pedophilia or a form of child abuse.
100% child abuse.

‘Down Kings/Queens’ have also been met with condemnations of cruelty and abuse.
Is it really letting the market decide?
Lately, many corporations have fully embraced hard-left social positions. These positions have been confidently promoted by their marketing teams via social media. In spite of many corporations suffering blow back and financial set backs in backing certain causes, they remain undeterred to continue supporting causes which may potentially alienate some of their clientele. So-called ‘woke capital’ has been derided as to ‘get woke, go broke’. However, other corporations continue to espouse political causes which appear to harm them in the short term–it’s not about the money, it’s about sending a message.
The same applies with the Corporate Press. Supporting ‘drag kids’ and writing frequent articles in an attempt to normalize the practice may appear antithetical to reaping in vast profit margins, given the unpopularity of ‘drag kids’ in the general public. Despite the negative feedback, they can continue to publish articles/videos which contains ‘drag kids’ on a regular basis. Due to the level of financial backing received by these corporations, they can persist in drilling ‘drag kids’ into the narrative, in order to finally breach public consciousness, they are not beholden to traditional market forces.
